About Christy
My passion for health and fitness is rooted in my personal experiences with health challenges. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) at nine months old and have managed chronic migraines since the age of nine, which persisted into adulthood. Despite these health setbacks, I remain committed to maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.
“Christy has the best cues that really help with technique.”

What is Functional Fitness?
Functional fitness is a type of exercise that improves your body’s ability to perform everyday activities with ease and efficiency. It focuses on movements that mimic real-life actions, like lifting, squatting, and reaching, rather than isolated muscle exercises. By engaging multiple muscle groups and joints simultaneously, functional fitness training aims to improve overall body coordination, stability, and strength, making everyday tasks easier and reducing the risk of injury. Unlike traditional strength training, which often isolates individual muscles, functional fitness engages multiple muscle groups simultaneously through coordinated, compound movements. This integrated approach not only builds overall strength but also improves core stability, balance, and posture—key components in reducing the risk of falls and maintaining physical independence.
Another significant benefit of functional fitness is its ability to help prevent injuries. By training the body to move more effectively and with proper form, participants can reduce the likelihood of strain or overuse injuries in both exercise and everyday life. The inclusion of exercises that promote flexibility and mobility further supports this, enhancing joint range of motion and functional capacity.
Functional fitness is also adaptable to all fitness levels, from beginners to seasoned athletes, making it an inclusive and accessible option for most individuals. Moreover, because these exercises often target multiple muscle groups at once, they provide a highly efficient workout that can deliver comprehensive fitness benefits in a shorter amount of time.
Ultimately, functional fitness supports improved quality of life by strengthening the muscles and movement patterns required for daily activities—making everyday tasks like climbing stairs, carrying groceries, or playing with children easier and more manageable.
